Jewish Scrolls
God is the worshipable deity in the Jewish religion. The words of God are living word of God, and the Jewish scrolls are revered as most holy. The greatest usage of scrolls today is within the Jewish religion, observed each week in Knesset (synagogue) and Bet Midrash (house of learning). Rolls of papyrus, parchment or paper with holy wrtings and drawings, unrolled from side to side, the holy Torah scrolls have fancy rollers for ceremonial function. Thus the words of God are preserved and celebrated. Book of Torah or Torah Scrolls is only opened during reading. Sefer Torah is always in upright position, bound by silky ties, kept covered when not in use by embroidered kippah, silver tas and keter. These ornaments are not objects of worship themselves but only used to beautify the scrolls, the living word of God.
